An Enchanting ride, part 2

The next day our main activity is to visit the Taos Pueblo.
The Taos Pueblo has been continuously occupied by the Tiwa people for over 900 years.

The Church.
The Native Americans here were converted to Catholics when the Spanish came, but then returned to their Earth based religion. They have now combined the two, seeing similarities between the two and they practice both religions.

The oldest part of Taos Pueblo. About 150 people live in this village.

 The graveyard.

We leave in the morning for Bluff, Utah.

This guy was caught texting while driving...

Gas stop in Chama.

We pass Shiprock, New Mexico. This monadnock rises 1583 feet above the desert floor.

Four corners.

Riding into Bluff.

We eat at the Twin Rocks Cafe.....can you guess how they got their name?

Beverly had an excellent burger, sans buns. I had a ho hum Navajo taco.

Tomorrow (in part 3) we'll ride to Torrey, Utah.

An Enchanting ride, part 3

We depart Bluff and get on the incredibly beautiful SR 95 from Blanding to Hanksville. Whether by motorcycle, car, bus, or bicycle (or Heaven forbid,,,,walking!)  everyone should travel this awe inspiring road.

At Hanksville we get on SR 24 and ride via Capital Reef NP to Torrey, Utah.

More in part 4

An Enchanting ride, part 4

We've met up with the other couples, L to R; Beverly, Julie and Brent, Wendy and Rooster, Jan and Kenny.

In Bryce Canyon; Brent suggests we hike up to a small waterfall.
It was a fun hike and excellent scenery.

Some knucklehead goofing around...

The waterfall.

The women cool their feet in the stream.

Then we grab a very good burger at Nemo's in Escalante.

And on to the phenomenal Burr Trail.

We stop to do another short hike into this slot canyon.

We rode about 20 miles into the Burr Trail then back out and back to Torrey, and dinner at this place.

The last day of our trip...we're on our way home and stop in Nephi for lunch. Note the model trains...there were three or four running while we ate.

There aren't enough "Ws" in Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwsome to describe this ride; 10 days, 2,150 miles, good food (much too much!), and great friends....how can it get better?!?

A HUGE thank-you to Beverly for taking most of the pictures, and for making this such a wonderful trip!
